53% of adults in the UK have either experienced addiction or know someone who has, with 10% personally affected, according to a Forward Trust poll to mark Addiction Awareness Week. It comes as the latest official figures revealed 18,000 deaths in the UK last year from the direct effects of drugs, alcohol or gambling.
