La Trobe University’s Alcohol’s Harm to Others in Australia: Patterns, Costs, Disparities and Precipitants was compiled over 6 years and is the most comprehensive analysis to date of harm to people beyond the drinker. 48% of people were negatively affected by the alcohol use of others in 2021 – and the cost to society of others’ drinking was estimated at $34.3billion.
