Jay Bhattacharya, the head of the National Institutes of Health, will become acting director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention following the removal last week of Jim O’Neill by HHS Secretary Robert F Kennedy Jr as part of a broader restructuring that elevated Chris Klomp to chief counselor in charge of overseeing all HHS operations.
