Scotland: hospital drug statistics

Public Health Scotland released Drug-related hospital statistics – in 2024/25, there were 10,185 drug-related hospital stays (2023/24: 11,148). Opioid-related stays accounted for 38% of these and, for the 5th consecutive year, the most common drugs linked to stays for drug poisoning/overdoses were sedatives/hypnotics, followed by opioids.
