The science of recovery is in court

Virginia Commonwealth University’s Professor Daniel Gutierrez’s research on addiction recovery and relapse has made an impact in court: he has partnered with public defenders in Washington state to emphasize factors that drive clients’ long-term success. Factors of thriving are stronger predictors of relapse than time spent in recovery.
