Don’t cut alcohol research funding

Alcohol claims about 178,000 lives each year in the US, outstripping the peak of about 105,000 annual overdose deaths from all other drug abuse combined. Its overall annual economic impact is projected to reach $588billion, factoring in inflation, lost productivity, health care and criminal justice costs. “Protect the integrity and independence of alcohol research,”  The Hill urged.
