Mass prescribing drugs for conditions like attention deficit disorder is a ‘vast experiment’ on the UK’s children and does nothing to address the root causes of the problem, Gabor Maté stated. He spoke as a review ordered by Health Secretary Wes Streeting suggested the condition may be overdiagnosed and overmedicalised, with too many children fast-tracked onto medication.
