Alcohol-related admissions account for less than 1% of unplanned hospitalizations among patients with cancer – but incidence is rising and, overall, 12,027,846 patients with cancer had nonelective hospitalizations during the study period, including 15,205 related to alcohol, Anna Mehlich MD of John H. Stroger Jr Hospital told Healio.
