Jail for abandoning overdosing friend

A one-time peer recovery specialist helped a friend get drugs – then, in a disastrous act of bad judgment, when the friend overdosed, let him die alone in his rented room rather than call an ambulance or police for help. For that decision, she pleaded guilty to third-degree murder and yesterday was sentenced to 6- 12 years in state prison.
