$30million to study alcohol withdrawal

Alcohol withdrawal syndrome is a potentially life-threatening condition that affects an estimated 16% of people admitted to US hospitals. University of Utah Health was awarded $30million from the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute to lead a large clinical study comparing phenobarbital with benzodiazepines to assist alcohol withdrawal.
