Deaths from alcohol-related liver disease in England rose after the Covid-19 lockdowns, University of Oxford et al reported in Temporal trends in alcohol-related liver disease mortality and prior inpatient care in England before, during and after the COVID-19 pandemic. From 2004-2024, 97,058 ARLD deaths occurred, with about 1/3rd out-of-hospital – then deaths rose 27.7% March 2020-December 2024, mostly out-of-hospital.
