While deaths from several alcohol-attributable conditions have fallen globally, one cancer followed a strikingly different trajectory during the pandemic lockdown years. Augusta University in the US and China’s Fourth Military Medical University found that alcohol-attributable liver cancer mortality rose. Before the Covid lockdowns, alcohol-attributable liver cancer rates had been falling.
