Pope: “Drugs and addictions are an invisible prison”

On the World Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, 26 June, Pope Leo XIV offered words of comfort to everyone battling an addiction, recalling that though drug use can be a sort of “invisible prison” difficult to escape, we are called to freedom. He lamented the sprawling criminal organizations “that states have a duty to dismantle”.
