KFF Health News, Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health and Shatterproof spent the past year investigating how states and local governments spent opioid settlement funds: “What we found is troubling”. States received over $6billion in settlement funds in 2024 but, on average, only 22% went to treatment and 10% to prevention programs.
