Childhood trauma, opioid use disorder and chronic non-cancer pain

Australia’s National Drug & Alcohol Research Centre confirmed that, among people prescribed opioids for CNCP, childhood trauma exposure was common, and linked to an increased risk of OUD. Childhood trauma also linked to higher rates of other mental and substance use disorders – eg, psychotic symptoms in young cannabis users.
