Government will pay abuse victims to leave

In partnership with Women’s Aid, the Home Office is instituting a new scheme to support victims in leaving their abuser. The fund will provide a one-off payment of £250 to people experiencing abuse, and £500 if they have children – but it is unlikely to be enough, Valeria Skafida of University of Edinburgh explains.
