How addictive drugs hijack the brain’s natural reward processing

Mount Sinai and Rockefeller University identified the protein RHEB (Ras homolog enriched in brain) as hijacking a mesolimbic pathway in the brain that allows cocaine and morphine to take over natural reward processing systems. This can inform future drug research.
