Poll reveals toll of addiction across the UK

Action on Addiction commissioned research into the scale of dependency in the UK. Ipsos interviewed 2,139 UK adults aged 16-75, finding that 11% experienced addiction to alcohol, drugs, medication or gambling at some point and 47% experienced or know someone addicted. Alcohol is the most prevalent dependency, followed by drugs (38%) and gambling (32%).
