Expanding on previous epidemiological research, Texas Tech University et al summarise a comprehensive long-term view of alcohol-related mortality in England, in the context of the effect of pandemic lockdowns. The findings illustrate how the Covid-19 crisis intensified pre-existing disparities, known as the Matthew effect.
