Medetomidine: the animal sedative in opioid deaths

When public health officials in Philadelphia tested a year ago, medetomidine was found in 29% of fentanyl samples analysed – 6 months later, in 87% of fentanyl samples. Medetomidine, approved only for veterinary use, is even more potent than xylazine. Professor Paul Chazot of Durham University updates us on medetomidine.
