New Mexico Supreme Court rules on drug-exposed babies

The New Mexico Supreme Court on Monday denied a request to stop the state’s practice of immediately taking drug-exposed infants into protective custody. Before the governor’s directive, many of these newborns were sent home with parents to comply with the Comprehensive Addiction and Recovery Act – but that resulted in several high-profile child and infant deaths.
