Figures provided to Bellingcat by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime show the US reported 26 different kinds of nitazenes since 2019, the 2nd highest number globally, after Canada. Over 1,100 fatalities were confirmed through the CDC’s State Unintentional Drug Overdose Reporting System, but experts believe 2,000 Americans might have died from them since 2019.
