Bloomberg School of Public Health et al investigated how non-fatal overdose risk changed when people used various routes of administration (injecting, smoking, nasal inhalation/ snorting) – and concluded that using drugs by multiple routes of administration carries a higher overdose risk than use by a single route, perhaps because it is harder to assess dosages.
