Since 2021, the Home Office Wastewater Analysis Programme has taken samples from wastewater treatment plants across England and Scotland to calculate the quantity consumed of several illicit drug types. This latest report used samples from 16 WWTPs, January-April 2023 and January-April 2024. Heroin seems to have reduced but all other drugs are up.
